First-Year Fellow Susrutha Puthanmadhom Narayanan Presents Her Research at ASCO 2024

Congratulations to first-year fellow Susrutha Puthanmadhom Narayanan, MBBS, who presented her research at ASCO 2024 this past weekend entitled, “Transcriptomic Analysis of cAMP/PKA/CREB Signaling in Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer”. The goal of her study was to explore transcriptomic alterations in invasive luminal breast cancer (ILC) that could be exploited for targeted therapy, as currently ILC is treated with the same paradigm as other breast cancers. She investigated three large publicly available breast cancer datasets (the Sweden Cancerome Analysis Network-Breast, the Cancer Genome Atlas, and Molecular Taxonomy of Breast Cancer International Consortium) and found a higher expression of cAMP/PKA/CREB related pathways in patients with luminal A ILC. This was also validated in cell line and organoid models. Susrutha comments, “Taken together, cAMP/PKA/CREB signaling may represent a potential targetable alteration in ILC.”

We are proud of her hard work and dedication to research!
